Workspace designed to get the most out of creativity

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Numerous out of the ordinary workspaces have been mentioned on this blog before, but this one is by far the most outrageous.

Inventionland (see the video) is the brainchild of George M. Davison III, CEO of Davison Design and Development. He wanted to design a “an innovative workspace designed inside its Pittsburgh warehouse to foster creativity among its staff, known as Inventionmen™.” (as is stated in the press release). It does look more like an amusement park, then a place of work.

You do have to wonder with all those distractions if any work will be done.

Viktor & Rolf Store Milan

Friday, November 10th, 2006

Viktor & Rolf are quickly becoming the fashion icons of the Dutch fashion industry. They are known for their haute couture, but recently went to the masses with their H&M collection. They also played in some surreal commercials for the Postbank (Dutch site) and H&M in order to promote their collection, thus strengthening their image of being quite the eccentrics.

As mentioned, their fashion line can now be bought at H&M stores, but they also have their own branch of shops where they sell their fashion, like this one in Milan. The amazing thing about this shop is that it’s been designed to appear upside down.

Your own motivational poster

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

We all have bad days. Days where you wish you could stay in bed so the day just passes and you can start afresh the next day. Unfortunately, those bad days often seem to appear on those weekdays where you have to work or on those where you have to do something you can’t get out of.

Sometimes a little motivation helps to get you over the hump. So how about a motivational poster you can look at that gives you the that much needed energy. And in stead of buying it, why not make it yourself! And you can do that with Motivation Poster Creator.

Here’s a little example from the guys over at OhGizmo (who provided the original link)

Halloween cardboard maze

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

Halloween is far more popular in the US then it is over here in Europe (although it’s getting more popular) and Americans use it to carve pumpkins and dress up as the good, the bad, the gadget or just so they can dress up their animal. But some go a little further.

Flickr user Daniel W. used Halloween as a starting point for his cardboard maze, which was “constructed out of cardboard boxes, duct tape, and 300 bolts. The maze spans two rooms and a hallway.”

Now that’s the way to celebrate Halloween!
