Creative new Coca Cola commercial

Saturday, July 8th, 2006

Coca Cola has used some very inventive and stylish commercials over the years. Their ad campaigns and commercials helped Coke to become the global brand that it is today with the highest brand recognition. Of course it never hurts to have a rumored 1,5 billion dollar advertising budget at your disposal to help you in that area.

Their newest ad is a diversion of what they used before, but it’s as great as ever (Quicktime required).

Photoshop contests

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

The people over at Worth1000.com have been into Photoshop contests since 2002 and some of the results are stunning. Take this contest for example. The rules were simple:

(from the website)

“In this contest, your task is to change the very substance an object is made of. Take any object, and swap its material, in a major way. Use a material the object would not ordinarily be made from, for obvious reasons. For instance, a paper mache helicopter would be great, while a plastic cup instead of a glass one… would not be.

The rules of the game are thus: Change the material of any object to a new and unexpected material. As always, quality is a must. We will remove poor entries no matter how much we like you. You will have 48 hours for this contest, so make your submission count.”

These are the results.

The site is filled with contests like these and some of the finished projects are stunning. Worth checking out.

Who needs a film camera anyway?

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

Sometimes all it takes is a digital photo camera to make a great short film. Using a Canon D20 and it’s burst mode (taking photos in rapid succession) and stitching them together, Patryk Resbisz created a little piece of art that has won numerous awards at various film festivals.

The movie “Between me and you” can be seen here.

All it takes sometimes is a little bit of thinking outside of the box to create something great.
